FLAMENCO DANCE CLASSES

“When you learn to dance, you must also learn how to forget it.”

All that the dancer has been taught must at times be ignored, and the dancer will rely on the wisdom that flows in his/her blood, something that he/she inherited from an age-old tradition. 
The dancer must feel the rhythm of her/his own heart beat and let that guide him/her with his/her interpretation, and with his/her natural instinct, and the knowledge of how to use the rhythm of his/her heart, the dancer will unleash a mysterious force, searching the most inner depths of his/her soul to attain a certain high, when the spirits appear to guide him/her and the duende fills the dance.

Saturdays, 4:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. - Adult Beginners.

Introduction to flamenco. Basic technique of footwork (zapateado), arms movement (brazeo), hands movement (floreo), body position, compás (rythm).

Saturdays, 5:00 – 6:30PM – Adult Intermediate

This class is mostly technique: footwork (zapateado),  arms movement (brazeo), posture, turns (vueltas), palmas(clapping), skirt movement in compás, learn the diferent parts of a song(marcajes, llamadas, remates, etc) and understanding the compas/rhythm. Class finishes with some choreography and/or improvisation with palmas and jaleos.  How and when to use jaleos.
